Järfälla's library service has had a branch in Barkarbystaden since spring 2022, on two floors at Bällstaågatan 18. Staff are in 12–19 on Mondays and Wednesdays, 13–19 on Tuesdays, 12–17 on Thursdays and Fridays and 11–16 on Saturdays. With meröppet, the self-service scheme, the door also opens 07–20 every day, Sundays included: the card is read at the door and a PIN keyed in. Sign-up is through the municipality's e-service and needs a library card; under-18s enter only with an adult card holder. Two four-person study rooms can be booked for two hours a day, and one of the four drop-in computers is set aside for genealogy. Wifi is open to visitors without a card, and IT help is by appointment, also in Persian and Dari. Växthuset, the meeting room, has 40 chairs and a hearing loop; local associations book it free of charge, and private individuals may too if the programme is open to all. The autumn 2026 calendar includes book clubs for children and teenagers, a manga workshop and a visit by the author Jonas Gren on 5 December. The building, Bas Barkarby, also holds the municipal art gallery and an upper secondary school.
