The contract for Clas Ohlson's store in Barkarby Gate was announced in January 2013: 1,590 square metres of sales floor, an opening planned for autumn 2014 and a catchment area the chain then put at around 400,000 residents, according to its own press release. In November 2020 a refit was brought forward so that the store could double as a hub for home deliveries, letting online orders arrive the next day across large parts of the Mälardalen region – that is from the chain's nine-month report for 2020/21. Clas Ohlson Barkarby is the hardware and home store in the retail quarter on Kalvshällavägen 8, with Barkarbystaden as its neighbour. According to the quarter's own site the store is open 10–20 Monday to Friday and 10–18 on Saturdays and Sundays. The same site gives the chain's customer service line, 0247-445 00, as the phone number and says customers may park without charge for three hours – under cover or in the open, with EV chargers in the garage. The chain was founded in 1918 in Insjön, Dalarna, and today singles out five priority product niches, among them Fixa & reparera (fix and repair) and Städa & organisera (clean and organise). According to the chain's page on delivery options, items ordered on clasohlson.com that the store has in stock can be collected there within two hours; the 29-kronor picking fee is dropped on orders over 149 kronor.
